Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Fisher Price Announce Recall of 11 Million Dangerous Toys

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Health Canada and Fisher Price announced the recall of 11 million childrens’ products. The products include tricycles that pose a risk of injury because of protruding key, toy car sets and infant toys with detachable small parts that pose choking hazards, and high chairs that pose a risk of laceration injury.

New Arizona PIRG Education Fund Guide Explains Health Care Coverage Options for Young People and their Families

A provision of the new federal health care law that goes into effect today allowing parents to keep children on their health insurance plan until age 26 will benefit 30,900 young people, according to the Arizona PIRG Education Fund. The Arizona PIRG Education Fund marked the day by releasing The Young Person’s Guide to Health Insurance, a consumer guide which offers information about the rights and options available to young people and their families under the new law, which includes a letter addressed to students coming back to college this fall from President Barack Obama.

Local Leaders Asked to Find Reliable Funding for Transit

At a recent Maricopa Association of Governments meeting, the Arizona PIRG Education Fund urged the local government leaders to find reliable sources of funding for transit so that Maricopa County residents can have transportation options.
